What works for a summer wedding
For a daytime country wedding, think tea dress or printed midi (Cathleen, Bricia, Sola). Cooler chapels or registry offices want a jacquard short jacket or coat over the top (Salut, Dryden). Black tie or evening receptions sit best with the Huxley ballerina maxi, or a Pasadena jacquard midi skirt with a Kent jacquard jacket. Plain colour-blocked options live in the Baya and Clover linen sundresses if you would rather skip prints.
Jacquards, tea dresses and pieces that re-wear
The Aubin and Pasadena jacquard skirts are the most-photographed pieces we sell. They re-wear forever: a wedding in May, Ascot in June, a milestone birthday in October. The Cathleen tea dresses are a softer bet, romantic, every print suits a different occasion. If you want one piece that handles a whole spring of events, start with a jacquard skirt and three tops.
Hot weather, hat etiquette and dress codes
Wedding dress codes have got slipperier than they used to be. Smart-casual usually allows a midi sundress. Lounge suit typically wants a tea dress or shirt-dress. Morning suit wants a hat. We do not sell hats in this edit, but our straw and fascinator-friendly options sit in the Hats edit. White and ivory stay off the table at most weddings; pastel and bright prints are the safe ground.
