Floral Folly: Joy Celebrates British Flowers Week!

British Flowers Week Joy with Joanne Truby Floral Display

British Flowers Week is upon us! This year, the Joy team have got a little creative and we’ve pushed the boat out with our Flowers Week celebration.

Floral-obsessed and nature-inspired, season upon season our creative team designs unique dresses, skirts, blouses and beyond boasting a wide variety of floral prints. From striking Strelitzia on our Luxe Corianna Midi Skirt to sweet and simple daisies embroidered on to our lovely Orla Cami Sundress (below), Joy and its brands are all about mixing botany and colours with chic, on-trend shapes.

In honour of the stunning country-wide efforts for British Flower Week, we have lifted flower inspo from the apparel and sprinkled it on to the store window display. Partnering with Joanne Truby’s Floral Design House, who have turned beautiful floristry into a 8-foot work of art, we’ve created a magnificent exhibition of natural beauty in our Bankside store window (12 Sumner Street, London SE1 9JZ).

Come check it out! And a very happy British Flowers Week to you all.

  2. Dress Like A Royal: Your Guide To Ascot

Dress Like A Royal: Your Guide To Ascot

There’s little to rival the prestige of The Royal Ascot. With over 400 years of history, it has been witness to the royal, the rich, the famous and the best dressed throughout the ages.

This year, the Ascot races are set to be as spectacular as ever. Across the nation, race-goers are placing bets and dusting off hats, obsessively consulting the weather forecast… and trying on a few thousand dresses in the hope of finding The One (dress, that is).

In all your blissful excitement in the run-up to the event, remember that Ascot has a strict set of rules. Elegance is non-negotiable; buying the perfect dress is a must. We've decided to make it easier for you by giving you a quick run-down of the dress code by area - with dresses to comply and outfits to fall in love with.

    The Royal Enclosure

The secret to dressing for the Royal Enclosure is in the title – royal! When preparing your outfit, think Kate Middleton – regal opulence all the way.

    * Dresses/skirts need to be no shorter than knee-length (or just above knee)

    * Dress/top straps must be at least 1 inch wide – no spaghetti straps (soz)

    * Hats must be worn! Go to town on this – the more exquisite, the better

    * Trouser suits and jumpsuits may be worn - but they must be full-length

    * Midriffs must be covered – save that little tummy for another day!

    Queen Anne Enclosure

Although not quite as strict as the Royal Enclosure – you can wear a headpiece or fascinator instead of a hat, and your straps can be thin – the Queen Anne Enclosure follows more or less the same rules.

Here are some of our star dresses for this top tier Ascot enclosure:

Louche Luxe Chance Tulle Off-Shoulder Dress - match me with the Louche Luxe Chance Jacquard Box Clutch (scroll down to see me!)

    The Windsor Enclosure

While the Windsor enclosure doesn’t require a dress code, we thought (somewhat presumptuously) that you might want to look special nonetheless.

For the same level of elegance without all the rules...

...go for monochrome 60s chicness with the Rosellen Lace Sleeveless Shift Dress

...opt for a luxe skirt and cami combo with the Joyous Bloom Print Jacquard Midi Skirt and the Kinsey Trim Cami Top

...or bring florals to the table with the vibrant Louche Colby Floral Dress

    Accessorising Ascot

And let’s not forget the beautiful finishing touches - accessories!
