1. Inside the Joy launch supper club

Inside the Joy launch supper club

As you may have guessed, we're pretty excited about our brand new label, Joy. Casual, cool and effortlessly on-trend, it's the new season pick-me-up every girl's wardrobe has been waiting for. To celebrate the launch, we partnered up with cafe, caterer and chef extraordinaire, Social Pantry, to host an intimate supper club for our fave fashion press and bloggers.

    JOY1

Having inadvertently chosen one of the hottest days of the entire year for the event, ice cold drinks were the order of the day, and Sipsmith's London Cup went down a treat as we all spilled out onto the pavement to soak up the last of the evening's sun.

    JOY4

Louise and Silvia, the new label's designers, came along to introduce the range, with the collection on hand - and on the walls, neatly paired into super cute outfits - for everyone to peruse. We, the whole Joy squad, were also wearing our favourite, and 32C-appropriate, pieces. (My pick was a ribbed sparkly midi tank dress that I'd had my eye on for AGES.)

    JOY 2

Social Pantry's deliciously fresh and summery menu (it even had an ice lolly break!) sat perfectly among their delicate pastel-pretty table decorations - picked with the campaign colours in mind - while some of our homewares nestled in between.

    JOY 3

As the sun dipped, it was time to sit down as head designer Louise shared her inspiration and the story behind Joy. Holding up key pieces from all three phases, including some seriously snazzy sparkly and velvet party wear from the Studio 54-themed late autumn range, elicited excited ooohs and ahhhs from around the table. Lightweight ribbed knits with frill details and retro fitted shifts were also feeling the love.

    JOY5

Shortly afterwards, a light and gloriously sticky beetroot tarte tatin arrived to kick off the food portion of the evening. At this point, the only thing left to do was sit back and enjoy - with a sneaky break to make some hilarious (i.e. hilariously terrible) gifs using our custom gif booth.

    JOY 4

Soft, chewy basil meringues, followed by fresh mint tea and mini cinnamon doughnuts, brought the evening to a close. After a final rifle through the range, one by one our guests slowly slipped off into the warm night, treat-laden goody bags in hand...(more on those very soon - watch this space!)

  2. Joy takes the Infruition challenge

    Joy takes the Infruition challenge

With this week already sending temperatures upwards of 32C, it's time to talk hydration. If you, like us, can get pretty bored downing glass after glass of plain old water, then Infruition's clever fruit infusion bottles are for you. Even better, each one comes with its own exclusive 28-day detox and recipe plan to keep you thirsting after more. Equipped with a batch of colourful bottles in the handy Sport (700ml) and handbag-friendly Mini (450ml) styles, we decided to give it a go for a week and see how the Joy HQ team got on. Here are our favourite combinations...

    Flat Peaches

    bottle33

A punnet of dainty flat peaches provided the perfect partner for the mini bottle in sunny yellow. Delicately flavoured and subtly sweet, this was the perfect drink for a muggy, overcast Monday in the office.

    Lemon and Lime

    bottle3

A classic citrus combination for a yoga class up in the Shard, the Infruition Sport's larger size kept us sipping happily throughout the class ... and through into the bar later.

    Watermelon

    2016-08-11-PHOTO-00000058

Our stylist, Louise, took her Infruition Sport to Ibiza and filled it with watermelon for a seriously refreshing beach beverage. (Yeah we're getting major holiday envy looking at this photo too.)

    Red Berries

    2016-08-11-PHOTO-00000057

Back in the office (sob), some juicy red berries added a bright and tangy touch to a cloudy afternoon.

    Mojitos

    bottle2

So this recipe went a little off piste from the detox plan, but it tasted amazing. Fresh lime and mint infused into the drink beautifully for a sunny evening in the park to celebrate how hydrated and wholesome we all felt at the end of the Infruition week.

We highly recommend you try it too! Snap up your own Infruition Sport by clicking here.

  4. Meet The One...

    latreece_santeene_

It's finally here... the leather jacket of your dreams! A little while ago, the designers here at Joy HQ decided to embark on the ultimate quest: to create The Perfect Biker (and our first ever!), the hero investment piece that every girl WLTM.

In a market saturated with ones that just aren't quite right, their starting point was to find out what everyone loved - and loathed - in a jacket. We all brought in our favourite bikers, and talked about what worked and what didn't. Certain features kept popping up again and again on everyone's hot list and hate list.

Compiling them all together, Latreece was born. We made her...

...cropped to sit pretty over dresses, but with proper slim fitting full length sleeves.

...tapered and feminine at the back to sit close to the body.

...with plenty of metal hardware, but matte and vintage-looking so it's not too flashy.

...from smooth, buttery soft leather, with secret stretchy panels and adjustable waist buckles to get that perfect fit, over bulky jumpers and bare arms alike.

Basically, it's everything we've ever looked for in a biker jacket, rolled into one! Ultra flattering, edgy and elegant, ideal for dress-up dresses as well as dressing down, we dare you to try her on and not feel like a total badass babe.

And she's a steal at only £160! Click on this link to snap up yours...before we all get in there first...

  5. Meet the Designer: Joy's Louise Dixon

    KALVIN_ENCHANTEE_small2

You may have noticed something different around here recently... a certain new little label called Joy has been popping up among all those names you already know and love. We think it's about time we properly introduced you. And who better to do the introduction than the mega talented designer behind the brand, Louise Dixon...

    Q. What was the main inspiration behind the Joy range?
It's difficult to pin down the main inspiration. The idea to produce this collection came from the drive to want to create a trend led range that would appeal to a younger customer. A collection of pieces that were interesting yet easy to wear, I had a vision as to how they could be styled yet they can easily be mixed up and worn in different ways that suit each individual. Trends are global now and easily accessible but people still want to look different and do their own thing with an outfit, and I really feel that the "JOY" collection gives that freedom whilst inspiring a trend.

    Q. What does your day-to-day work life involve?
My day to day working life varies depending on where we are in the season. When it's the beginning of the season, I'm gathering inspiration via a number of sources from exhibitions, web, catwalks, shopping or blog sites/Instagram. Anything that can inspire the next range really.
Mid season will be mostly creating mood and colour boards, collecting fabrics and trims and sketching ideas to send out. End of the season can involve creating styling ideas and moodboards for the photo shoots including hair and makeup. Then attending various shoots to help guide the looks. Throughout the season I'm involved in a weekly fit meeting to make sure the clothes are looking as expected along with best & worst meetings to monitor how styles are performing.

    Q. What are your favourite pieces from the range?
Top pieces, it's difficult to just pick a few as there is so much I would wear!

SANTEENE - denim button through pencil skirt
This is so flattering on and an easy below the knee length. Looks great for transition with the Enchantée tee and black choker, or with the Rocky colour block polo neck for a retro sports feel.

    VADA- zip front sports sweater
With the ath-leisure trend coming through so strongly, this colour blocked sweatshirt is an easy way to get the look in an effortless way.
