1. Easy on the Eyes: we celebrate Lisa Potter-Dixon's new book with Benefit

Last week myself and our lovely gifts buyer, Lesa were invited to the Easy on the Eyes book event. Lisa Potter-Dixon is the head make-up and trend artist at Benefit Cosmetics and will be releasing her debut book this Autumn. We went along to see the book and meet the make-up extraordinaire behind it.

Taking place in the Carnaby Street Benefit store, we were greeted with champagne and goody-bags (a great start to any event!) And got the chance to chat to Lisa about her exciting new book.

Starting with the basics, Easy on the Eyes tells you how to prep and prime your face, before moving onto the eyes and brows. What I really love about this book is how attainable the looks are; with a range of ages and skin tones and a mix of models and non-models, Easy on the Eyes makes you feel inspired rather than daunted.

The book is split into looks, from the classic flicked liner, to the sultry smoky eye. You can then choose from three different styles depending on how much time you've got: 5, 15 or 30 minutes. Incredibly useful if you're in a rush, or want to go for all-out glamour on a Friday night. What's even better is that Lisa promises the 5 minute looks do actually take five minutes!

After browsing the book, Lisa and the Benefit team gave us a little brow masterclass (FYI always use  a pencil to map out your eyebrow shape!) With a quick wax and tint, our brows were looking on point!

Love the sound of this book as much as us? Well stay tuned, because Easy on the Eyes will be available in Joy stores and online from mid-September. Plus, you've still got chance to enter our fab Benefit competition! Simply fill in your details and you could win a hamper worth £250!

  2. From Alicante, with Love

Our postcard has just arrived from Alicante, Spain, where our studio stylist Louise has been sunning herself for the past week. Louise spent her time in Jávea - a beautiful coastal town away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Scroll through the images to see her top picks for this beautiful town, where rocky headlands meet beach-side shack bars and quiet harbours. Jávea is the perfect mix of old-world Spain and modern energy.

Evenings were spent drinking wine and walking along to the Jávea port to watch the fishermen bring in their boats.

Traditional Spanish architecture juxtaposes against the glorious blue sky.

Surrounding apartments brighten up their shuttered windows with greenery.
