  2. For the love of Tommy Ton

With the sun poking it's head out from behind the clouds, we are looking to street style photography for help in influencing our wardrobes. What creative way can we make our summer clothes 'now', what with the weather still trying to make up its mind! Whilst doing this, we have fallen back in love with famed street style photographer, Tommy Ton!

All we can say is that the man is a genius when it comes to making colour scream from an image. That is why his adopted muse, Anna Della Russo is the perfection of a street style star. Her vivid use of colour all year round is definitely something to admire - most of all because we are too scared to wear such combinations!

What we wouldn't do to be photographed by Tommy Ton?!

  4. A True Hollywood Star: Elizabeth Taylor

We here at JOY HQ were so sad to hear the news of Elizabeth Taylor passing away. One of our greatest screen actresses, she will be sorely missed. For those people that don't know of her films, such as National Velvet and Cleopatra, you will no doubt be able to watch them all with tributes on television in the next few weeks.

  7. Bill Cunningham New York

A lot of you may ask who is Bill Cunningham is. And let me just tell you - he was doing what Scott Schuman of The Sartorialist, and Tommy Ton do a long time before they were able to pick up a camera.

Born in the late 1920s, Bill dropped out of Harvard University and 'ran off' to New York, and began working in advertising. Then there was his stint in the army, after that he moved back to New York and began writing for the Chicago Tribune, where he found an interest in fashion journalism. While working at the Tribune and at Women's Wear Daily, he began taking photographs of fashion on the streets of New York. As the result of a chance photograph of Greta Garbo, he published a group of his impromptu pictures in the Times in December 1978, which soon became a regular series. Cunningham photographs people and the passing scene in the streets of Manhattan every day. Most of his pictures, he has said, are never published.

He, and street style photography are such a key thing to fashion today, that there has been a film made in his honour.

  10. PFW: Miu Miu

The final show of Paris Fashion Week, Miu Miu blew us all away with a very different take on the 1940s compared to Louis Vuitton's earlier in the day. Exaggerated shoulders are the key look, with fabrics hanging in elegant drapes. Embellishments of birds, and flowers, and trims of fur make this retro fabulous.
