1. Oscars 2011

Ladies In Red: Jennifer Lawrence in Calvin Klein, Anne Hathaway in Valentino & Sandra Bullock in Vera Wang all looked outstanding in scarlet at the Oscars. They let the colour do all the talking for them with minimal accessories.

Purple Rain: Natalie Portman in Rodarte, Mila Kunis in Elie Saab & Scarlett Johansson in Dolce & Gabbana - showing that you can wear girly shades of purples and pinks and look sexy.

Pale & Interesting: Michelle Williams in Chanel, Hailee Steinfeld in Marchesa & Gwyneth Paltrow in Calvin Klein - perfection was seen in these understated dresses.

    ---

We know that the Oscars is about acting, and celebrating the great films of the past year - but we are girls, and so we cannot help ourselves but swoon over the dresses. Hollywood's actresses become real life princesses in their specially picked dresses (or in the case of 14 year old Hailee Steinfeld, co-designed!)

Of course congratulations have to go to the amazing Colin Firth for winning Best Actor for The King's Speech, and Tom Hooper for snagging the Best Director and Best Picture award! It was a firm favourite here at JOY HQ as it was quintessentially British - which we can never say no to!

  2. LFW: Burberry

Burberry has taught us all a lesson this fashion week. And that lesson is - how to wear a coat! The selection of divine coats was endless for Christopher Bailey. With a 60s influence to some of the shapes, we can see these coats being an influence on everyone this Winter when the cold comes back again - not saying that it has disappeared yet.

  3. LFW: On/Off - Bryce Aime

The lovely people at Blow PR and On/Off were kind enough to invite us to Bryce Aime's show on Saturday evening.

When we turned up to the dark location in Covent Garden, we didn't know what to expect, but we had no reason to worry.

Next to the 'out there' architectural pieces were beautiful dresses with the simplest of details. Capelets with ruching gave added depth to the liquid jersey dresses, whilst tailored jackets were given strong lines. We will definitely be saving up for one of these for Autumn!

  4. LFW: Erdem

Erdem's girl has grown up this season. She is still in love with all things feminine and floral, but with an edgy twist. We definitely want to be this girl, with shoes and elbow length gloves that match our dresses.

  5. LFW: Jonathan Saunders

We love Jonathan Saunders. We love the cuts he uses. We love the colours he uses. We just love him no end.

He introduced some menswear into his collection too, which made us weak at the knees! The pieces fell seamlessly in to the show against the colourful womenswear outfits.

If this is what Autumn is going to be like, we cannot wait.

  7. LFW: Mulberry

The Mulberry Autumn Winter 2011 show has really made our day! Emma Hill showed off the perfect Autumn attire at Claridges this weekend. The colour palette was amazing, with shades of greens next to warming pinks and purples. To finish off some outfits, models were paired with a Mulberry coat-adorned miniature Schnauzer. We were also very happy to see the face of our Spring Summer campaign, Helen walk for Mulberry too (top left).

  10. London Fashion Week - Tali Lennox

As everyone knows, London Fashion Week starts tomorrow. It is by far the most creative and exciting of all fashion weeks as us Brits love to push the boundaries on the catwalk. New model on the block, Tali Lennox (daughter of the beautiful Annie Lennox) will no doubt be walking at a few shows, if not - she will still be working the amazing eclectic look that only British girls can for the hundreds of street style photographers vying for her picture. We thought we would dream up an outfit we think Tali would wear, just add her signature hat and it's done.
